Thomas Tuchel has said he ‘loved’ his time in the Premier League and has opened the door to a return to English football.

Tuchel is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the campaign after a mutual decision was made for him to depart. A disappointing domestic campaign has seen Bayern’s 11-year dominance of the Bundesliga come to an end, though the Bavarians remain in contention for the Champions League.

Bayern travel to face Real Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final tie on Wednesday, after a 2-2 draw between the teams at the Allianz Arena last week.

Tuchel is aiming to become the first manager in history to reach the Champions League final with three different clubs, after taking Paris Saint-Germain to the decider in 2020 and winning the competition with Chelsea in 2021.

The 50-year-old has been linked with a return to the Premier League this summer with Chelsea and Manchester United named as options, and the German has suggested he would be open to the idea.

“I’d rather not answer but it is no secret that I loved it at Chelsea,” he told TNT Sports.

“I loved it in England and I loved it in the Premier League, for sure. It was a very, very special time in England.”

Tuchel ruled out the prospect of continuing at Bayern, even if his side are successful in the Champions League.

“It’s very, very, very unlikely that it’s at Bayern, I have to say, because we have an agreement, there is at the moment no reason to doubt this agreement. We took this position, the initiative came from the club, and so it is and I’m fine with it.

“I don’t need it for the extra percentage of competitiveness because I’m always up for a win, I’m always thinking how to improve the squad or how to improve myself in coaching.

“We go all in. Does it have an influence on where I am next season? Maybe not, maybe I’m on holiday no matter what, let’s see, let’s see.”
