Erling Haaland revealed the rigours of the Premier League have been harder than he expected after City clinched the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola’s side became the first men’s team in English football history to win four straight top-flight titles following our euphoric 3-1 win over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.

The Norwegian ace helped us etch our name in folklore with a total of 27 goals in the league in 2023/24 – earning him the Golden Boot.

It follows his record-breaking tally of 36 in his debut campaign with the 23-year-old now just the fifth man to claim the award outright in consecutive seasons.

Although he has seamlessly settled into life in the division, he explained how tough every Premier League assignment is across each season.

“[The Premier League has] been harder than expected.

“Every game, the way every game is not far away from a final. You come away somewhere and even at home you have to be 90 minutes. You can’t relax after 45 minutes.

“Every game is so intense and tough.”

City became Premier League champions following a fantastic 23 consecutive game unbeaten run after a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on 6 December.

It means we haven’t tasted a Premier League loss in 2024 so far, winning 17 times and collecting 54 points this calendar year.

And Haaland says Guardiola’s team grew into the campaign en route to glory.

He added: “It’s fantastic, beautiful and I’m enjoying it.

“I think after we won at Spurs, we kind of knew we were going to do it. We come at home with the pressure and everything, I was confident.

“We had done a little extra [after the Club World Cup] because that’s when it really matters. I’m happy."
