Bayern Munich 'quoted €100m' in bid to hire Premier League manager | OneFootball

Bayern Munich made an offer to hire Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, a report has claimed, but backed away after being warned they would need to pay €100m (£86m) in compensation.

Thomas Tuchel will step down from his post this summer and Bayern have spent the past few months batting off a number of public rejections, with Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick all turning down moves to Bavaria.

According to BILD, the fourth manager on Bayern's shortlist was Glasner, who has dazzled since joining Palace in February and appeals because of his past Bundesliga experience with Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bayern were prepared to part with a huge compensation fee of €18m (£15m) to buy Glasner out of the final two years of his contract, but club owner Steve Parish is said to have laughed off the approach by slapping a €100m asking price on the manager's head.

The move quickly collapsed, despite an alleged desire from Glasner to make the move. It is claimed that the Austrian gave Bayern a list of reasons why he would be suitable for the job and was keen to join a side capable of competing for the Champions League, only for Parish to shut the move down quickly.

Hansi Flick remains a potential target for Bayern but sporting director Max Eberl is now believed to be pushing for Brighton & Hove Albion's Roberto De Zerbi to be given the job.

De Zerbi has already publicly insisted he wants to remain with Brighton this summer but Eberl continues to try and convince those in the Bayern boardroom that a move for the Italian is worth pursuing.

Alternative options are proving increasingly tough to find. Benfica's Roger Schmidt and Stuttgart's Sebastian Hoeness have both ruled out making the move, while the popular Ruben Amorim has vowed to remain with Sporting CP.
