Manchester City have received a potentially significant boost to their transfer window activity with the culmination of interest from Saudi Arabia in Ederson.

The Brazilian goalkeeper has been consistently linked with an exit from the Etihad Stadium for a number of months, increasing in intensity towards the end of last season following an injury sustained against Tottenham.

The 30-year-old succumbed to a number of accidental injury problems throughout the last campaign, allowing an increased amount of opportunities to be handed to back-up choice Stefan Ortega Moreno.

Manchester City’s German shot-stopper was largely faultless when called upon in big matches, and with Ederson reportedly being open to the idea of a fresh challenge in the Middle-East, there was a belief that Ortega could soon become the club’s number one.

However, despite a string of reports indicating a greater chance of Ederson becoming the Saudi Pro League’s next big-money signing, and an agreement on personal terms claimed to have been struck, a new significant development has granted Manchester City a huge boost.

That is according to the exclusive information of City Report, who claim that Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr have officially ended their interest in recruiting Manchester City’s number one choice goalkeeper Ederson this summer.

The claimed ending of interest from the side who currently employ the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Aymeric Laporte will no doubt come as a significant blow to the Saudi Pro League too, who are hoping to continue their momentum in terms of big-name signings.

Manchester City’s job this transfer window would also become a lot easier in terms of plans for new signings, with a potential exit of Ederson likely to have led to an increased search for a new back-up shot-stopper.

Claims earlier on in the market had suggested that Etihad Stadium bosses could search for a new number one, although options became very quickly limited, and finances were stretched on the subject of the likes of AC Milan’s Mike Maignan and FC Porto’s Diogo Costa.
