Valentin Atangana’s (20) move to RC Strasbourg Alsace had looked to be all wrapped up. However, the France youth international will instead make the move to Saudi Arabia in a big-money move, according to a report from RMC Sport.
It had been reported by So Foot that a complete agreement had been found between Strasbourg and Reims for the player’s transfer. The deal was worth a reported €15m, and the player looked all set to join the BlueCo-owned club.
However, Al-Ahli have been interested throughout the window and never threw in the towel. The club were capable of outbidding Strasbourg and that is exactly what they have done to secure his signature. A deal worth €25m has been struck.
Atangana is now set to sign a three-year deal with the Gulf State side. It is a blow to Strasbourg but a big win for Reims, who have sold the player considerably above their asking price. He is the second Reims midfielder to make the move to Saudi Arabia this summer, after Amadou Koné joined Neom SC for €13m earlier in the window.
