Liverpool and Newcastle United have reached an agreement on the £125m transfer of Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker will travel to Liverpool to undergo a medical on Monday ahead of completing his transfer to Anfield.
Isak expressed a desire to leave Newcastle earlier this summer and refused to join up with the club for their pre-season tour. He has since been training alone, after going public in his desire to move on.
The two teams have now reached a record-breaking agreement, with Newcastle willing to sell Isak after the €80m capture of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart earlier this week.
According to The Athletic, the deal is worth £130million to Newcastle due to solidarity payments and will cost Liverpool £125m.
Isak will become the most expensive footballer in British football history, replacing soon-to-be teammate Florian Wirtz after his £116m, including add-ons, move to Liverpool earlier in the window.
The Premier League champion’s deal for Isak will take their spending north of £415m. Liverpool also retain interest in signing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi before the 7pm deadline.
Isak scored 23 goals in the Premier League last season, finishing as runner-up to Mohamed Salah for the Golden Boot. The 25-year-old has netted 62 times in 109 appearances for the Magpies since joining from Real Sociedad in 2022.
