Clermont have this morning announced the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Habib Keïta, who joins on a four-year contract from Lyon and becomes the Auvergne side’s third signing of the summer.

Having arrived from his home country in 2020, the Malian would make seven appearances in total for Les Gones‘ senior team, including three matches in the Europa League. He spent last season on loan at Belgian side Kortrijk, where he played 21 times across all competitions.

His new club indicates that he has been on their radar for a long time, and that Keïta had been close to signing in January. The young midfielder will join up with the rest of the squad on Thursday. Pascal Gastien’s men will look to build on an impressive sophomore season in Ligue 1, in which they ended the campaign with eight wins in ten – including a victory at the Parc des Princes – to secure a first-ever top-half finish.
