Chelsea approached Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade before the start of the U21 Euros stating they were monitoring him closely according to reports.
The Blues are once again set for another busy summer and have already made Liam Delap their first signing, with more new faces expected to follow.
Chelsea face a critical window and whilst they could look to add another striker, they are also in the market for a centre back and right footed attacker.
The Blues paid the price at times last season for not having an alternative to Nicolas Jackson, but they’ve moved quickly to address that this time around by bringing Delap in early.
Despite the signing of Delap Chelsea could look to bring another striker in and have been linked with Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.
A left winger seems to be a more pressing issue to resolve, but it appears another striker could be on the club’s radar.

Bild journalist Julian Agardi stated the Blues approached Woltemade before the start of the U21 Euros and are monitoring his situation.
He took to X.com and said:
“Before the start of the U21 #EM FC #Chelsea approached Nick #Woltemade .
“The English club stated that they were closely monitoring the striker and were exploring the contractual situation.
Talks between #VfB and Woltemade’s side will begin next week. The topic: a salary increase.”
Woltemade is unique given he’s 6ft 6in and the 23-year-old scored 17 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions for Stuttgart last season.
Whilst a move for Woltemade could be possible it appears a move for Ekitike is far more unlikely given Frankfurt are refusing to budge from their €100m valuation.

Chelsea are said to value Ekitike at around £67m, with Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United also interested in the France under-21 international.
Ekitike scored 22 goals last season and is one of the most exciting talents on the market, but if Chelsea really want the young Frenchman they will certainly have to go beyond their valuation.
