As confirmed by Huddersfield’s official website, Hogg is now set to stay at the club until 2024.

Since joining the Terriers in 2013, the midfielder has featured regularly for the club in all competitions.

During the current campaign, Hogg has started in all four of Huddersfield’s Championship fixtures.

Having suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Norwich City earlier this week, Huddersfield will be determined to bounce back from this setback by securing a positive result in their showdown with West Bromwich Albion later this month.

Currently 21st in the Championship, it will be interesting to see whether the club is able to climb the league standings in the coming weeks under the guidance of head coach Danny Schofield.

Reflecting on his new deal on Instagram, Hogg has admitted that he is delighted to have extended his stay at Huddersfield.

The midfielder posted: “Delighted to extend my contract with this great club, this club means the world to me and I will give everything every time I wear the shirt, thank you to everyone who’s helped me on this journey it’s not over yet.”

The Verdict

When you consider that Hogg has established himself as a key player for Huddersfield over the years, the club will be pleased by the fact that he has decided to extend his stay.

During the previous campaign, the midfielder helped the Terriers reach the play-off final by making 1.4 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game in the Championship whilst he also registered a pass success rate of 85.6% at this level (as per WhoScored).

By maintaining his fitness over the course of the current campaign, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Hogg helps his side achieve a relative amount of success in this division.

Having made 324 appearances in the Championship during his career, the 33-year-old clearly knows exactly what it takes to compete at this level.
