Ajax dropped another huge two points to leave their title hopes hanging by a thread after a stalemate against Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday.
Having been beaten by Feyenoord in a dramatic encounter last time out, John Heitinga’s side were aware that nothing else than three points would do to keep their Eredivisie aspirations alive.
In a quiet opening 30 minutes, the Amsterdam giants struggled creatively, with Brian Brobbey spurning the only decent opportunity during that time.
Shortly after that, Mohammed Kudus thought he’d found the opener at last, only for his goal to be ruled out for offside.
Ajax’s frustrations continued after the interval as they struggled to break down Go Ahead Eagles’ resistance and were forced to settle for a point which isn’t enough at this point of the season.
The result means they do move up to second but could fall eight points behind in the title race if leaders Feyenoord beat Sparta Rotterdam later today.
