The hosts found the first half they were looking for, as Steven Bergwijn scored in a second straight game to snatch the lead for Ajax as they look to keep their momentum rolling.

And keep on rolling it did, as Brian Brobbey doubled the home side’s lead in the dying minutes of the opening period to give Ajax some breathing room.

While Luuk Brouwers pulled one back for the hosts in first-half stoppage time, two late Chuba Akpom goals were enough for the home side to kick on and collect a vital three points to provide yet another lifeline out of the lower reaches of the league.

The win sees Ajax move into 11th place for now, having been bottom this time two weeks ago.
