Roma are reportedly looking to make their first January signing in the coming weeks.

After yesterday’s rumors from Argentina, today confirmations from Italy arrive on Roma’s strong interest in Marco Di Cesare, a 22-year-old defender from Racing Avellanda with clear Italian origins who is proving to be one of the best central defenders in the Argentine championship.

Di Cesare, used to playing in a three-man defense, is one of the pillars of his club, winner of the Copa Sudamerica.

Having arrived in January after growing up in Argentinos Junior, this season Di Cesare has made 31 appearances in various competitions before stopping due to a problem with his hamstring. And he has won over Mascherano who has called him up permanently in the under-23 national team (in the last Olympics he was paired with Otamendi) even if the jump to the senior team now seems imminent.

According to the Gazzetta.it portal, Racing has imposed a release clause whose current figure is 13 million euros, and which will automatically increase to 15 million in 2025.

Roma hope to beat the competition (also interested in the player are Leipzig and Udinese) by offering 7 million plus 3 in bonuses to take him immediately.

Then, also based on the future of Hermoso, who is being courted by Real Madrid, they would decide whether to leave him until June at Racing or bring him immediately to Italy and have him grow under the guidance of Hummels.
