Lazio are reportedly tracking Ajax youngster Benjamin Tahirovic who rose to prominence during his time at Roma.
The midfielder was born in Sweden and started his career at Djurshom before moving to Vasalunds IF, and then signing for the Giallorossi in 2021. The 21-year-old famously made his Serie A debut in November 2022 against Torino while being a relatively unsung teenager at the time. Nevertheless, Jose Mourinho put his faith in the young Bosnian who repaid him with a string of impressive displays.
Afterwards, Roma decided to bank in on the player’s exploits by selling him to Ajax in the summer of 2023 while registering substantial capital gains. However, Tahirovic hasn’t been part of Francisco Farioli’s project this season, so he could soon put an end to his experience in Amsterdam.
According to Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via Calciomercato), Lazio could offer the young man a second chance in Rome. The source claims that the Biancocelesti are keeping close tabs on the player whose priority is to return to Serie A. In this regard, Fiorentina represent an alternative path, as the Tuscans are also following the situation with interest.
The report also reveals other potential destinations for Tahirovic, beginning with Monza who have been recently linked with the former Roma man. Moreover, PAOK Salonicco and Celtic represent options outside of Italy. As for Lazio, they could take the opportunity to test the water during their visit to Amsterdam for the Europa League showdown against Ajax.
