A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona racked up more ‘big chances’ created from open play than any other player in Europe’s top-five leagues this past season.
That’s according to statisticians Squawka, who point towards Lamine Yamal as the player in question.
Wide-man Lamine is of course fresh off nothing short of a spectacular individual campaign.
From his berth on the right of new boss Hansi Flick’s frontline, the Spanish international tore opposing backlines apart week in and week out, courtesy of elite touch, dribbling and final ball.
All told, in 55 appearances across all competitions, Lamine racked up a head-turning haul of 18 goals and 25 assists.
Such exploits have given rise to mounting calls for the 17-year-old to be named world football’s very best player, by way of the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
In turn, it should not come as a major surprise to learn that Lamine stood above all others when it comes to one statistical category this season.
As revealed by Squawka, the youngster, with 28 to his name, created more big chances from open play than any other player in Europe’s top-five leagues in 2024/25.
