The future of Barcelona rising star Fermin Lopez has become a topic of intense debate over the past 24 hours or so, after it emerged that Chelsea wanted to sign him.
The Blues are still in the market for quality reinforcements and have identified the 22-year-old La Masia graduate as a target.
As such, they are reportedly trying to lure the Spanish international away with the promise of a prominent role in the team and a salary much higher than his current one.
Barcelona, for their part, are not ruling out a sale, but will seek a significant fee of around €70 million.
However, providing an update on the situation, Guillem Balague (via Catalunya Radio) reports that Chelsea will not do ‘anything crazy’ to sign Fermin Lopez from Barcelona.
The journalist further states that the Blues will not offer a significant sum like €58 million (£50 million) for the versatile attacking midfielder this summer.

While it is true that the reigning Club World Cup champions like him and wish to sign him, they are not willing to make a ‘brutal effort’ to sign him from Barcelona.
This comes on the back of reports suggesting that Chelsea would be willing to spend €50 million (£43 million) for the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medallist with the Spanish national football team.
Fermin, for his part, finds himself in a dilemma with regard to his future. The midfielder’s love and commitment towards Barcelona have never been in question.
But the possibility of reduced game time, that too in a World Cup year, coupled with the opportunity of a lucrative contract, can influence the youngster’s decision.
With not much time left before the transfer window closes, it remains to be seen how things develop in the coming days.
