With not many days left in the summer transfer window, the Catalans need to act swiftly to complete their pending player registrations.
Following the loan departure of Inaki Pena, which should pave the way for the registration of Wojciech Szczesny, FC Barcelona are now closing in on finalising another player exit.
Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and midfielder Oriol Romeu are close to reaching an agreement for the termination of his contract.
After days of negotiations, the positions of the club and the player are now aligned, and the definitive termination could be made official by tomorrow.
The agreement is considered absolutely necessary for the registration of Gerard Martin and possibly Roony Bardghji, following Pena’s move to Elche, which in turn facilitates the registration of Szczesny.

Both Barcelona and Romeu have made concessions to finalise the deal, which comes just days before the closure of the summer transfer window on 1 September, and ahead of the La Liga fixture against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, 31 August.
Romeu, aware that he was not in the plans of coach Hansi Flick, has trained individually throughout the summer after returning from his loan spell at Girona.
The veteran midfielder did not travel with the rest of the Barcelona squad on their pre-season tour of Asia. However, he did participate in the presentation of the squad during the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Now, though, Romeu is one step away from finalising the termination of his contract, which still had a year left. Following that, it will be interesting to see where he ends up, with several La Liga clubs and teams in the MLS showing interest.
