It was exclusively revealed by FLW that the Magpies have agreed terms with Spurs over a loan deal for the youngster.

The 19-year-old has been unable to break into the London outfit’s first team plans, and is unlikely to feature this year under Thomas Frank.

This has led to the decision to open the door to a temporary exit, with the midfielder reportedly receiving interest from clubs in League One and the Championship before opting for Notts County.

Hall has made 26 appearances in the Premier League 2 for Spurs, contributing five goals and seven assists across two campaigns in the underage division.

Defoe has declared Hall as one of the most exciting talents in England for his age ahead of his proposed move to Notts County.

He compared the teenager to Luka Modric, praising his technical ability, suggesting he will make it in the Premier League some day.

“I’d probably go as far as saying he’s one of the best players at his age I’ve seen in the country,” said Defoe, via Sky Sports News on X.

“I remember playing a game last year against Chelsea, and his performance was unbelievable, it was a standout performance, it was probably his best performance of the season.

“Big game, I think we ended up winning 3-2, were 2-0 down, it was a masterclass.

“He’s someone who I believe is a Premier League footballer.

“And it’s a big statement, but he’s someone who, when I first saw him, I believe, god willing, that he’s someone that can go on and play at a top, top level.

“Unbelievable footballer.

“So much potential, and he reminds me a little bit, technically, how he is, so silky, again another big statement, of that Luka Modric sort of vibe, and Joe Cole.

“Phenomenal talent.”

Notts County drew their opening fixture of the league season with Newport County, and will face Salford City this weekend in their first home game of the new term.

Defoe’s comments will certainly catch a lot of attention at Notts County, and supporters will now be excited to see the youngster in action.

The 19-year-old clearly has a lot of potential, and he will now get the chance to test himself at senior level in League Two.

It’s also exciting for the Magpies that they’ve won the race to his signature if he had interest from the Championship and League One.

If he can live up to Defoe’s praise this season, then his arrival could be a big boost to their promotion chances under Martin Paterson.
