Reports suggest that Tottenham are prepared to let George Abbott leave on loan this summer.
George Abbott is reportedly set for another loan move away from Tottenham this summer, with Thomas Frank taking over from Ange Postecoglou in North London.
The 19-year-old starred on loan for Notts County in League Two last season, and the Magpies may be ready to pounce for the midfielder again, with Football.London reporting that Abbott is on a list of players that could be heading out on loan this summer.
Abbott scored five goals and registered six assists for Notts last season, and a reunion between the player and the club could make further sense as he continues developing.
At 19, Abbott became a vital part of Stuart Maynard's side, and showed maturity well beyond his years at Meadow Lane. After starting 22 matches for the club, Notts announced that Abbott would spend the rest of the season with the Magpies, following an impressive few months in the East Midlands.
The Spurs loanee was the perfect partner for the more experienced Matty Palmer in midfield, with Abbott often being the man responsible for driving Notts forward with his all-action style and urgency.
His stunning strike against Accrington Stanley in January also saw him win the EFL Goal of the Season.
After taking part in Spurs' pre-season tour of Korea and Hong Kong, Abbott is now reportedly set for another loan departure.
After captaining Tottenham's Under-21 side to Premier League 2 glory in the 2023/24 season, Abbott is highly rated in North London.
And his performances at Meadow Lane point in the direction that the midfielder is destined for a high-level career. And while a return to Notts County may make sense emotionally, it may not necessarily be the best for his career.
The youngster was a cut above in League Two last term, and his level is only going to get higher and higher as he continues to develop.
Clubs in League One and potentially the Championship could be alert to the situation, with Abbott being available while also carrying a season's worth of experience in the EFL.
For the Magpies, though, their reputation for developing young talent could provide an excellent reason for Abbott to return to the club, with the likes of Jack Grealish and Callum McGregor launching their careers at Meadow Lane.
And as Notts head in a new direction under Martin Paterson, they have to be alert to the developing situation with Abbott's future.
The Magpies are preparing for their first home match of the 2025/26 League Two campaign this Saturday against Salford, after drawing 1-1 with Newport County in their opening fixture.
