Inter Milan and Genoa are already in talks regarding the possibility of a transfer of forward Albert Gudmundsson this summer.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the Nerazzurri the the Grifone are discussing the possibility of an initial loan deal containing a purchase obligation.

Inter’s club directors have urged caution regarding the prospect of a big attacking signing this summer.

There have now been linked between the Nerazzurri and Genoa’s Gudmundsson for several weeks.

However, the Icelander will not come cheap. And that could pose a major stumbling block for Inter.

The Nerazzurri’s financial limitations are no big secret.

And this summer transfer window is likely to be similar to last one. In other words, Inter will not be able to make any signings without first financing the transfer fees with sales.

Inter Already In Talks With Genoa For Albert Gudmundsson

Nevertheless, the Gazzetta report, Inter are indeed in talks with Genoa regarding Gudmundsson.

The Nerazzurri’s intention would be to try and bring a deal within reach financially.

One way in which Inter could make a deal for Gudmundsson viable would be with a loan formula.

Loan moves with a view to permanent transfers are not exactly uncommon in Serie A. And Inter themselves have used this strategy to make big signings in the past.

That is how Inter signed Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo last summer.

And the Gazzetta report that Inter are discussing the possibility of a similar deal with Genoa.

Inter could look to bring Gudmundsson in on an initial paid loan.

Or, the Gazzetta report, the Nerazzurri could send a player to Genoa in order to compensate for the initial loan. Then, next summer, Inter would have an obligation to sign Gudmundsson permanently.

The Gazzetta name wingback Mattia Zanotti as a possible makeweight in negotiations.
