Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has this evening provided an explanation for the lack of game-time afforded to Éder Militão in his side’s latest outing.

Stopper Militão, of course, is fresh off his return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ACL tear.

Speaking in anticipation of his side’s meeting with RCD Mallorca, the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti therefore announced his intention to afford the Brazilian an extended chance to ramp up his fitness on Saturday.

This comes with a view to Real’s impending Champions League quarter-final 2nd-leg showdown with Manchester City on Wednesday night.

The Brazilian, though, was nevertheless forced to make do with a spot on the bench from the off at Son Moix.

Not only that, but, upon his introduction at long last being green-lighted, the clash was on its way into injury-time.

Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Militão’s game-time, or rather lack thereof, was put to boss Ancelotti.

And Los Blancos’ headmaster went on to point towards the closely-contested nature of the matchup as the deciding factor, with the La Liga table-toppers, when all was said and done, having emerged narrow 1-0 victors:

“I thought about giving Militão more minutes in the 2nd-half,” he began. “But the result was not comfortable.”
