West Ham United target Adrien Rabiot would bring a ‘technical level that very few players’ can offer, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 27-year-old was close to joining Manchester United in a £15 million deal over the summer before his wage demands saw the deal collapse, forcing him to stay put at Juventus.

Jones has previously informed GiveMeSport that Rabiot is on West Ham’s radar at this moment in time and this revelation comes after the player admitted the Premier League ‘attracts’ him.

“The Premier League remains the most followed league, but I don’t think about the future,” said Rabiot. “I stay focused on the World Cup. The club and I are in no hurry. There is serenity, and we will have time to weigh up every possibility.”

“Premier League attracts me. I’ve always said I’d like to play there — will it be at the end of my contract at Juve? I don’t know. I don’t have favourite team in England, no team where I’d necessarily like to play.”

Rabiot’s current £149,000-per-week contract is due to expire next summer, meaning he could be available for a bargain price during the winter transfer window.

What has Jones said about Rabiot?

Jones believes that West Ham’s pursuit of Rabiot has been ‘ramped up’ by his recent admission but that he wouldn’t be an exact replacement for Declan Rice.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “It has probably been ramped up by the fact that Rabiot’s open to coming to the Premier League.

“So, I’m not sure I can see him as a Rice replacement exactly, but what he does bring in that sense is a technical level that very few players in the game can offer.”

Would Rabiot be a good signing?

Rabiot is currently enjoying one of the most productive campaigns of his senior career, registering five goals and two assists in 16 appearances across all competitions for Juventus.

As per WhoScored, the 6 foot 2 ace has also averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.2 shots, and 0.9 dribbles per Serie A outing, placing him in the top four for each metric amongst his teammates.

With both Rice and Tomas Soucek facing uncertain futures at the London Stadium, it’s easy to understand why West Ham are contemplating making a move for Rabiot.

The France international has won a plethora of silverware at both Juve and Paris Saint-Germain and would surely be considered a significant coup for the Hammers.
