Adi Hütter has said that something will have to change after AS Monaco suffered a shock Coupe de France exit at the hands of National 1 side Rouen.
Monaco are currently going through a difficult period. Les Monégasques are yet to win in Ligue 1 this year, and following last weekend’s draw against Le Havre AC, they fell out of the UEFA Champions League places for the first time this season. They are now out of the Coupe de France too after they were dumped out by Rouen on penalties (1-1, 6-5 on penalties).
L’Équipe have reported that after Monaco’s blistering start to the season, Hütter is now under pressure, although internal sources at the Principality club dismiss any notion of mounting pressure on the Austrian. However, speaking after Monaco’s defeat to Rouen, and ahead of the derby against OGC Nice on Sunday, he admitted that something must change to get the club back on track.
“We wanted to go far in this competition. It is a huge disappointment. It is very frustrating. We weren’t good enough. They were well organised and we didn’t have a lot of chances (against Rouen). We struggle against low-blocks. It is hard to find an explanation. We have to change something and we will find what,” created Hütter post-match.
