In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona are keeping a keen eye on Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra this summer. It has been stated that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Spanish midfield ace later this year.

Guerra has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the Spanish club after he put in a series of solid displays for them in the middle of the park. The 21-year-old has played in 39 matches for Valencia this season, scoring four goals and picking up one assist across all fronts.

The Spanish midfield ace has caught the eye at both ends of the field as he is averaging 1.5 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 1.2 shots and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 74% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Guerra is under contract at Valencia until the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Barcelona to get a deal done for him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.

Is Guerra A Good Option For Barcelona Boss Xavi?

Guerra is a tough-tackling midfielder who doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed. He can strike the ball with power and precision from long range. The Spanish sensation can also make a few promising runs with the ball from midfield. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level.

Still, there is no denying that Guerra has the potential to be a world-class midfielder someday. Therefore, Barcelona would do well to bring him on board later this summer. The Spanish prospect is already good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp and could serve as an ideal replacement for Oriol Romeu at the Catalan club.

At 21, Guerra has got a bright future ahead of him and would be an excellent option for Barca to consider this summer. However, he is still under a long-term contract, so the Catalan giants might struggle to fund a move to bring him to the Nou Camp when the transfer window reopens at the end of this campaign.
