Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba have been linked with Tottenham.

Tottenham are planning a new transfer offer for Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba, according to reports in Germany.

Spurs’ summer transfer window has been dominated by the saga surrounding Harry Kane’s future at the club but the north Londoners have made number of positive signings.

Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro have returned on permanent deals from Juventus and Porto respectively, while James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario and Manor Solomon have also arrived.

And now Tottenham have turned their attention to improving their defence with Tapsoba rising to the top of their list of transfer priorities.

Sport 1 journalist Partick Berger insists that Spurs are looking to make a new offer for the Burkina Faso international after they were told €40m wasn’t enough last month.

Tapsoba is believed to be keen on moving to the Premier League and Tottenham are now ‘pushing’ to get a deal over the line despite Leverkusen’s reluctance to sell.

Berger tweeted: “Tottenham Hotspur are pushing to sign Edmond Tapsoba (24). Been told the Premier League side is planning to make a new offer of €45m + add ons but Bayer Leverkusen want way more. The German club normally doesn’t want to sell the centre-back.”

And Spurs are closing in on the signing of Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven with Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb claiming that the Dutchman has agreed a six-year contract with the Premier League club.

Van de Ven is now ‘one step away’ from joining Tottenham, which was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano yesterday, after Spurs made a ‘relaunch’ for the centre-back and he is now ‘very close to moving’ from Wolfsburg to north London.

Tottenham have offered €40m plus €5m in bonuses and that means a deal is now ‘close to the finish line’ with the bid closer to the Bundesliga side’s asking price.

Spurs could have more money to spend before the end of the transfer window if Kane moves on with Bayern Munich pushing for the England international.

And former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara insists that he would’ve moved on by now if he was Kane.

O’Hara told Grosvenor Sport: “If I’m Harry Kane, I’m leaving. I would have looked at pre-season, where Spurs have only played two games so far, seen that it’s a shambles and seen that the club haven’t attracted any top-quality players, and say, ‘do you know what? I’m going to go to Bayern Munich.’

“I think he’s getting to the point where he’s probably had enough, and if Daniel Levy is looking to eventually accept an offer, then I think he’ll leave. I don’t know where Spurs will be without Harry Kane next season. He’s a world class international football player of the highest degree, and Spurs have been lucky to have him for so long. It’s got to the point now where enough is enough – if Spurs aren’t going to compete, then he needs to leave.

“I just think Spurs have fallen away from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United. I feel like there was a time when they were competing with them and amongst it, but I feel now that they’ve drifted. The only saving grace that the club has is that they still have Kane and Heung-min Son, who are world class players, but if you look at the rest of the team, it’s no better than West Ham.

“The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and even Aston Villa are all going to be better than them next season – they’re attracting top players, but Spurs are not. Some of the players that they’ve signed are just embarrassing really.”
