The newly promoted Bundesliga side have finally completed the signing of winger Jakub Kaminski from Wolfsburg, initially on a season long loan with a reported option to buy should the loan spell prove to be a fruitful one.
The Polish international brings with him a wealth of Bundesliga experience having made 70 appearances over 3 seasons for Wolfsburg. During this time, Kaminski registered 4 goals and 6 assists - numbers that Die Geißböcke will be hoping he can add to in their bid for a successful top flight return.
Speaking to the club’s official website after the announcement, Kaminski said: "FC is a club with a great history. It's all the more wonderful that the club is now playing in the Bundesliga again. My goal is to take the next step here and be successful together with my new teammates."
Sporting Director Thomas Kessler also seemed positive about the new arrival when speaking to the club’s official media: “With Jakub, we are gaining a player who, despite his young age, already has valuable Bundesliga experience and has proven his qualities there.”
Kessler added: “We are convinced that he can develop further with us as an athlete and, at the same time, help the team immediately. We are very pleased that he has chosen 1. FC Köln,".
FC Köln will be hoping that the arrival of Kaminski can somewhat soften the blow of the impending departure of Damion Downs to Southampton.
Having already confirmed the arrivals of Ragnar Ache (Kaiserslautern) and Ísak Bergmann Jóhanneson (Fortuna Dusseldorf), it’s clear the side from the cathedral city are under no illusions of their need for offensive-minded reinforcements should they hope for a comfortable return to the Bundesliga.
