In a recent interview with Tottenham News, renowned podcaster John Wenham urged Tottenham Hotspur to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer. Wenham said,

“I think Tottenham need to call up Fulham and find out how much it would cost to bring Palhinha to North London.

“He is a player who Ange Postecoglou should be building his team around.

“We need an improvement on Yves Bissouma, and I would like to see Spurs get rid of him and bring in Palhinha.

“That should be the club’s first priority this summer.”

Palhinha’s Impressive Form At Craven Cottage This Season

Palhinha has enjoyed a solid campaign at the London club after he put in a series of impressive performances at the centre of their midfield. The 28-year-old has scored four goals and grabbed one assist in 37 matches for Fulham this season in all competitions.

The Portuguese talent has anchored the midfield with conviction as he is averaging 4.5 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.6 clearances and 1.4 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 82.6% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

Is Palhinha A Decent Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?

Palhinha is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to make some timely interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when required and can shoot the ball with venom from long range.

The Portugal international is a tidy passer of the ball as well. We can expect him to bring more quality to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s midfield department. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at the North London club in the coming years.
