Josef Martínez returns to first-team training

Atlanta United received a huge boost as Josef Martínez returned to first-team training on Tuesday.

The Five Stripes have been hit hard by injuries this season and will look to overcome their recent woes as the Venezuela international is back with his team-mates six weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to clean out debris in his right knee.

Since his last match all the way back on April 2nd, Atlanta have posted a dismal record of one win, two draws, and three losses in MLS play.


Shaqiri the highest earner in MLS

Xherdan Shaqiri is the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer, making $8.15m with the Chicago Fire.

Shaqiri joined from Lyon in February and has contributed two goals and three assists in nine MLS matches.

Gaga Slonina called up to Poland squad

The 18-year-old Chicago Fire goalkeeper is not cap-tied by Poland or the United States (yet) but has been called into the Poland squad for their June quartet of Uefa Nations League games.

Slonina is considered by many to be one of the best young goalkeepers in the world.

Three other MLS players have been called into Poland camp: Charlotte FC striker Karol Swiderski, Charlotte FC winger Kamil Jozwiak, and New England Revolution striker Adam Buksa.


Valentín Castellanos wants River Plate move

2021 MLS Golden Boot winner and MLS Cup champion Valentín Castellanos admitted to Olé (Argentina) that he ‘can’t say no to River’.

Back in February, it was reported that NYCFC rejected a $10m offer from the Argentinian giants, who want to bring him in as a replacement for the outgoing Julián Álvarez.

Taty also mentioned that he would like to go to Europe.
