Luuk Verheij has swapped FC Eindhoven for VVV-Venlo. The 19-year-old defender has signed for two seasons at De Koel.

Verheij made the switch from amateur club FC Oda to the youth academy of FC Eindhoven in the summer of 2021. The man-marker was part of the first team of Eindhoven for the first time last season and played a total of 20 official matches, in which he scored once.

Verheij did not yet have a professional contract in Eindhoven, which means he makes the switch to Venlo on a free. At VVV, Verheij returns to his native province.

“As a Limburger, it feels extra special to be allowed to play in yellow and black. It is a great club with many loyal supporters, and I am very happy with my transfer to Venlo. I look forward to developing myself further here, being important for the team and achieving great results together.”

With the arrival of Verheij, technical director Teun Jacobs strengthens the Venlo defence. “Luuk is a very interesting young player with playing minutes in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie under his belt. For us, he is a welcome reinforcement in defence, especially because Luuk can play as a central defender and right back. We are therefore pleased that we have been able to make smart use of his free status and that he will play for VVV for the next two seasons.”
