The Dutch outfit are the latest club to show interest in the midfielder.
Sheffield United boss Ruben Selles has confirmed his plans to keep Gus Hamer at Bramall Lane amid international interest in the Blades' star.
A battle to hold onto the Dutchman was one that United would've known that they'd be fighting following their failed attempt to win promotion back to the Premier League.
Initial interest came from Leeds United, who were also keen on signing Hamer in the previous summer window, but he isn't as much of a priority target for them anymore, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
More recently, interest has come from his home nation of Holland, whose champions, PSV Eindhoven, are looking into a deal for the reigning Championship Player of the Season. Sacha Tavolieri has stated that last season's Eredivisie winners are already in talks with the Hamer camp over personal terms, and that a bid from them is expected soon.
They can offer Champions League football and a potential route into the Dutch national team to the 28-year-old, the latter of which holds a lot of weight with the player, according to The Star. United's head coach, however, has shown no signs of backing down from his position: he wants Hamer to stay at Bramall Lane.
"I don’t manage those things," Selles claimed, via The Star, when questioned about the midfielder's future. "But I want to keep Gustavo with me, with us with the club. He’s been fantastic for the club, his way to play and his quality and the way he plays. That’s always going to be our line.
"We know the market is fluid and that things can happen, but my main target is to keep him and keep a lot of other players with us."
The Blades have already succumbed to the pressure of selling one of their best players this summer. Vinicius Souza was the first of potentially multiple major departures from Bramall Lane when he was sold to Wolfsburg for around £13 million.
It's a sad reality of their situation. To come so close to achieving your goal and not to quite get there is agonising enough without the salt in the wounds of potentially being forced into selling your best players.
Leeds United found themselves in a very similar spot two terms ago. They, too, just fell short of automatic promotion, lost in the play-off final to the team that finished fourth and then sold a number of their prized assets.
Now, they had a bigger incentive to sell because they were potentially going to breach financial rules, and they were also able to get a lot more money for the people that they offloaded than the Blades will for the likes of Hamer. That won't make it any less of a sore feeling for Selles and everyone connected to Bramall Lane if they do find themselves considering offers for the Dutchman, and any of their other players that could catch the eye.
