The subject of engine room reinforcements has of course taken its place front and centre in the media chatter surrounding Real Sociedad across the week to date.

As much comes amid the widespread understanding that La Real’s star performer in the middle of the park is all set to move on.

With just 12 months remaining on his contract, Mikel Merino has opted to seek out a new adventure, in the Premier League with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

And, to their credit, the brass at Anoeta have not wasted any time in getting to work on sourcing a replacement-of-sorts.

As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Sociedad have tied up an agreement with Austrian outfit RB Salzburg, to land Croatian international Luka Sučić.

The 21-year-old has already put pen to paper on a contract in San Sebastian through the summer of 2029, with official confirmation of the transfer expected on Friday.

Sučić has set La Real back a sum in the region of €10 million.
