Rangers boss Michael Beale cannot afford to sanction Alfredo Morelos' Ibrox departure in the next 24 hours, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

With the winter window still open in various countries, the Gers star has been linked with a move away from Glasgow.

The report suggests the Super Lig outfit are looking to rush through a deal after boss Aleksandar Stanojevic revealed he is desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements.

It comes after respected journalist Jones previously told GiveMeSport that clubs had been made aware of Morelos' availability last month.

Rangers are running out of time to cash-in on the Colombian as his £33,000-per-week contract is due to expire in the summer.

The Gers have been unable to tie Morelos down to fresh terms after they refused to meet his demands of a pay rise to £45,000-per-week.

What has Dean Jones said about Morelos?

Jones is not surprised to see Morelos being linked with a move away from Rangers while clubs in a number of countries are still able to negotiate deals.

But the transfer insider believes the Gers need to resist the temptation of securing a fee for the 26-year-old and retain his services.

Jones told GiveMeSport: "There have been so many pursuits of Morelos over the past year or so that you lose track. But it's a countdown to another deadline day and here he is involved in another storyline.

"Ultimately, it sounds like from Rangers' point of view, they just can't let him leave at the moment. They need him for the rest of this season."

How has Morelos performed this season?

Morelos has been averaging a Scottish Premiership goal every 114 minutes since the campaign got underway, according to Sofascore, so interest from Konyaspor should not come as a surprise.

The former HJK Helsinki man has got his name on the scoresheet nine times this season, while he has also contributed a further five assists.

WhoScored statistics show that Morelos has been averaging 2.7 shots per top flight outing, a figure which is only bettered by three teammates, further emphasising his importance to Rangers.

Only arch-rivals Celtic have scored more goals than the Gers this term, so keeping the frontman on board is paramount if Beale wants to have any chance of overcoming a nine-point deficit and being crowned the Scottish Premiership champions.

Morelos has been on target 121 times over the course of his Rangers career and the club should opt against sanctioning his Ibrox exit.
