Bayer Leverkusen have received a concrete enquiry from an unnamed Premier League club for forward Victor Boniface.

Boniface has been a huge hit since signing for Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise last summer, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists in 15 league starts.

The Nigeria international won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for four consecutive months between August and November and has been an integral part of Leverkusen’s title challenge under Xabi Alonso.

Boniface has 16 goals in all competitions and his performances have not gone unnoticed across Europe, with considerable interest in the 23-year-old from English clubs. Sky Germany are reporting that Boniface has ‘a big market in England’ and there has been a concrete enquiry from an unnamed Premier League side.

Leverkusen do not want to sell Boniface and it would take a bid in excess of €55m (£47m) for the German side to open negotiations with interested clubs.

Boniface has recently returned to first-team training after undergoing adductor surgery in January, an injury which saw the forward miss the Africa Cup of Nations.

Leverkusen remain unbeaten across all competitions this season and sit 10 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table with eight games to go.

Die Schwarzroten have never before been crowned champions of Germany, while the club remain in contention for treble success after reaching the latter rounds of the DFB-Pokal and Europa League.

Leverkusen are said to be considering Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier – linked with Liverpool – as a potential replacement for Boniface.
