Arne Slot is poised to become new Liverpool manager after the club reached an agreement in principle with Feyenoord.

The two clubs were engaged in talks over a compensation fee after the Reds launched an official bid for the Dutchman earlier this week.

The Guardian claim Liverpool have agreed terms with Feyenoord who will receive €9 million plus €2 million in add-ons for allowing the 45-year-old to leave this summer.

Slot has done well with the Rotterdam outfit since his appointment in 2021. Despite working on a low budget, he led his side to the Eredivisie title and the KVNB Cup.

Jurgen Klopp shocked Liverpool fans in January when he announced he would be stepping down from his role at the end of the season.

The Reds were heavily linked with Xabi Alonso but he ruled himself out after deciding to stay at Bayer Leverkusen for at least another season.

Sporting Lisbon chief Ruben Amorim and Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi were also in contention for the managerial position.

Klopp’s dream send-off ruined

Liverpool were on course for an excellent season before Klopp announced his departure.

However, things have deteriorated in the last few weeks and they look likely to end the season with just one trophy.

Their Premier League title aspirations are almost over following damaging defeats against Crystal Palace and Everton.

Winning their remaining four league fixtures, which are available to watch via the Premier League live streams, will not be enough if Arsenal and Manchester City do not slip up.
