Portsmouth midfielder Quirk signs two-year professional deal

Portsmouth midfielder Sophie Quirk has signed a new two-year professional deal with the club.

Pompey announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Quirk joined Portsmouth in the summer 2022 transfer window after leaving Barclays Women’s Championship club Charlton Athletic. The winger has gone on to make 62 appearances for Pompey in all competitions in which she has scored 33 goals. Quirk played an important role in Portsmouth’s FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division title success this season. She will now be hoping to make a similar impact in the Barclays Women’s Championship next term.

After signing her new professional deal at Portsmouth, Quirk said “I’m so pleased to sign a professional contract with Portsmouth. It’s been such an exciting journey from the moment I joined, to winning the title last season and now to extending my stay here.

“Last season was so special and now I’m hoping we can take that momentum forward as a club into the new campaign.

“The backing from the supporters made it mean that extra bit more and I can’t thank them enough. We’re all hoping to see them again in their numbers next year.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here overall and now I’m just buzzing to get back in for pre-season ahead of the Championship.”

Quirk becomes the fifth player to sign professional terms with Portsmouth this summer. Hannah Haughton, Riva Casley, Georgie Freeland and Jazz Younger have also agreed to go professional with Pompey ahead of the 2024/2025 Barclays Women’s Championship campaign.
