Portsmouth defender Younger signs new two-year professional contract

Portsmouth defender Jazz Younger has signed a two-year professional contract with the club.

Pompey announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

Younger is Portsmouth’s longest-serving player having joined the club in 2018. The 23-year-old has made 116 appearances for Pompey in all competitions with 19 of those outings coming in the 2023/2024 season as the club claimed the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division title.

The defender missed the final two months of this season after sustaining an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. She is expected to return to fitness during the second half of the 2024/2025 campaign.

After signing on again with Portsmouth on a professional basis, Younger said “Signing a professional contract for Pompey means a lot to me, having been at the club so long.

“I’m going into my sixth year here and I’m so proud to see how far the club has progressed. Last season was so special and I’m so glad I could play a part in helping this team achieve the goal of promotion to the Championship.

“It was a really tough period when I sustained the ACL injury, but recovery is going well and I can’t wait to be back in and around the place whilst continuing my rehab programme.”

Younger joins Hannah Haughton, Riva Casley and Georgie Freeland in signing professional terms with Portsmouth ahead of the 2024/2025 Barclays Women’s Championship campaign.
