Leeds United have always had a strong connection with the Gray family and, according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, this relationship could be set to continue for some time with youngster Harry Gray impressing at Thorp Arch.

The younger brother of current Leeds midfielder Archie Gray – who himself only made his first senior debut for the Whites at the start of this season – Harry Gray is one of several talented youth players produced by the academy system.

Despite being just 14 years old, Gray has managed to make his way into the under-18s set up at Thorp Arch this term, being deployed as a forward. He has also featured internationally for England at under-15s level.

Gray wasted no time in getting amongst the goals in his under-18s debut for Leeds, finding himself on the score sheet in a 4-3 loss to Sunderland.

In another defeat to Wolves the following weekend, almost as if to prove the first time was no fluke, Gray found the net once again – lining up alongside Lewis Pirie in the Whites XI.

Now, with excitement around the youngster building, Hay has provided an update on his progress, claiming that Gray has “masses and masses of potential” coupled with the mentality required to succeed at a more senior level.

“I mean, Harry is another one they’ve been talking about for a long time as looking incredibly talented, masses and masses of potential. The thing you’ve seen with Archie; he manages himself really well,” Hay told The Square Ball podcast.

“He lives as a footballer needs to. A proper professional even though he’s so young. He seems driven to develop and get better which I suspect is in the Gray genes. Big things expected of both of them.”

Gray will hope to follow in the footsteps of big brother Archie and the several generations of other Grays who came before him in order to continue the legacy of this particular footballing dynasty in West Yorkshire.
