Neymar’s father speaks out amid Barcelona return links | OneFootball

The father of ex-Barcelona star Neymar Jr. has indirectly shut down rumours surrounding a potential return to the Camp Nou in the summer.

The name of wide-man Neymar has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last couple of weeks.

This comes after reports began to spread that the 33-year-old has set his sights on a summer reunion with Barcelona.

Some sources, in fact, went as far as to suggest that Neymar has touched base with the Blaugrana brass, over the possibility of signing a pre-contract.

Speaking during an interview with TNT Sports Brasil early this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his son’s Barca return links was put to Neymar Sr.

And in his response (as cited by Diario Sport), the Brazilian made use of the opportunity to reiterate Neymar’s full commitment to Santos, through the summer and beyond:

“Our project is not only for five months, even though my son’s contract is only for five months.

“We did not come here to play five months, we have come to give Santos the opportunity to restructure itself during this time, to find allies who can help the club get back on its feet.”
