Few players know and feel FC Barcelona the way that Pedro Rodriguez does. A former forward for the club and the Spanish National team, he had a very close affiliation to the Catalan club. Essentially a La Masia graduate, he had Barcelona written all over him.
Having won multiple titles with Barcelona, including four La Liga titles, three UEFA Champions League titles, two FIFA Club World Cup titles, three UEFA Super Cups, and three Copa del Rey trophies among other accolades, the Spaniard had a successful tenure with La Blaugrana. Since then, he has gone on to play for other clubs in various different countries.

Currently a player for Italian side Lazio, he continues to play football to this day. However, in a recent interview, he took some time to commend a few current Barcelona players as well.
As highlighted by SPORT, Pedro complimented two sensational Barcelona youngsters in particular. First, he chose to commend Fermin Lopez and spoke about how players with his profile are often overlooked:
“Players like Fermín are often underrated—those who are constantly on the move… Players who move a lot tend to arrive in the box and score goals. People don’t always see how valuable that is.”
The other Barcelona player to get a lot of praise from Pedro was Lamine Yamal. Despite being just 17 years old, the young winger invited a lot of praise from the former Barcelona player and was even labelled by him as the single most complete player in his position:
“The most complete winger in the world. He has outstanding vision and decision-making when it comes to passing, and beyond that, he’s got everything—1v1 skills, the ability to play inside, he can operate on either flank or through the middle, and he’s a great assist provider.”
He also further elaborated on this matter by highlighted Yamal’s goalscoring ability, putting it next to the likes of Mohamed Salah and comparing it to former greats such as Eden Hazard and Thierry Henry:
“The hardest thing for a great winger is to score goals like Lamine or Salah do. I played with Hazard and Henry, and they had that same quality. Scoring 30 goals a season is what puts you in the conversation for the top five players in the world.”
Interestingly, Lopez is attracting eyes and Bayern Munich is the latest side to be interested in his services. While it remains to be seen if Barcelona lets him leave, this just goes on to show his impressive quality.
As for Lamine Yamal, his future undeniably lies with Barcelona and in a way that will likely make him the face of the club. Expected to take on the legendary number ‘10’ shirt at the club, Yamal has a big responsibility ahead of him at Barcelona.
