In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Newcastle United have identified Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as a target for the upcoming transfer window. It has been stated that the Magpies are eyeing a move to bring the France international to St. James’ Park in the summer.

Rabiot’s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season

Rabiot is having a decent campaign at the Allianz Stadium as he has put in a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 29-year-old has registered four goals and picked up three assists in 29 matches for Juve this season across all competitions.

The French midfield ace has been a positive influence in both halves based on his average of 1.7 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 1.2 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has also been careful when distributing possession from midfield after making 84.4% of his attempted passes in the French top flight (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Juventus will run out at the end of this campaign which could open the door for the Magpies to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.

Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Rabiot Up?

Rabiot is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed and can shoot the ball with venom from long range.

The French midfielder can also set up some decent plays for others around him and is an energetic runner with the ball as well. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player or play as a defensive midfielder if required.

Rabiot has the skillset and experience to be a real asset in Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s match-day squad. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at St. James’ Park next season.

At 29, Rabiot is playing some of the best football of his career and could help the Magpies compete across all fronts in the future. Thus, Howe would be wise to try everything in his power to snap the French sensation up later this year.
