Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has made a rallying plea to the Amakhosi faithful amidst an impressive start to the 2025/26 campaign.
The Soweto giants are yet to lose a match and remain the only team with five clean sheets in the league, having registered four wins and one draw against defending Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
As a result, Nabi’ men are currently in second place with 13 points accumulated after five league outings. Chiefs are level on points with log leaders Sekhukhune United, who have a superior goal difference.
This raised expectations at Naturena, with the club’s supporters optimistic about staging a respectable showing in contrast to the previous two terms. The Tunisian mentor echoes the same sentiments as he is ready to shoulder the expectations.
“I think we came to Kaizer Chiefs knowing that it’s been tough for the team in the past few seasons, and from the beginning I said to the fans and the board that my target when I came here is to help the team to come back [to glory days],” Nabi said.
“Kaizer Chiefs is one of the biggest teams in Africa, and for the fans we are also happy about our performance now but what I can say to them is that when we are in good situations they must enjoy and stay passionate.
However, Nabi cautioned that while Chiefs are in a rich vein of fine form, tough periods may arise during the course of the season, urging the supporters to rally behind the team and players in the event of bad performances.
“But also, we need them because you know in football sometimes you get some difficult situations, we need their help when we are in difficult situations and also the players need support because they are human,” he added.
“Maybe one day they make a bad performance, in this situation we need people [to support us] not criticism. So, now we are in a good situation, and we are happy for them but what we need when the team is struggling or we are in difficult situations, is to stay confident and help the team.
