Nabi reveals what he told Kaizer Chiefs players at halftime
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi opened up about the motivational message he delivered to his players during halftime, acknowledging the visibly somber atmosphere in the dressing room.
Amakhosi secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium, though the team once again relied on second-half substitutions to provide a crucial boost.
Nabi confessed that his squad had difficulty generating scoring opportunities in the first half but emphasized that he encouraged them to stay calm and elevate their intensity to break the deadlock.
“In the first half, we didn't create many clear opportunities—we barely had any real chances to score,” Nabi stated during his post-match interview with SuperSport TV.“I noticed the energy was low in the dressing room, so I told the players not to stress. I asked for greater concentration, more urgency, and reminded them that with improved passion and effort, the goal would come.”
He added, “We actually began the second half poorly in the first ten minutes—many players were still fatigued from the Sundowns match, which is understandable. The three substitutes made a significant impact and lifted the team. As I mentioned before the match, this was never going to be an easy game.It was tough, but I’m delighted with the result—happy for the entire staff and obviously for the three points.”
With the win, Chiefs maintained their second-place position on the log, tied on points with Sekhukhune United, and remain the only side yet to concede a goal this season.
