Get French Football News understands that Maxence Lacroix (24) will leave Wolfsburg at the end of the season but not without a parting gift. The Frenchman’s 90th-minute winner against SC Freiburg on Saturday, his fourth of the season, secured a crucial three points for Die Wölfe, who have now created a seven-point gap to Mainz, who currently occupy the relegation play-off place, with three games remaining in the Bundesliga.

The Sochaux academy product has established himself as a key player at Wolfsburg, having made the move to the club in 2020. However, there is an understanding that Lacroix will not extend with the Bundesliga club and with his contract expiring at the end of next season, a summer move is a nigh-on certainty.

As reported by The Telegraph, and confirmed by Get French Football News, Crystal Palace are interested in the French centre-back, as are Serie A side AC Milan. Lacroix has long since garnered interest from the Premier League, however, he will study all opportunities before making his decision.
