Huddersfield Town boss Mark Fotheringham believes his side ‘let the club down’ following their 2-2 draw against ten man Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday evening.
The Terriers took the lead through Matty Pearson in the first half and they seemed set to pick up a crucial three points against their fellow strugglers when Gary Madine was sent off just before the break.
However, they would only draw as Blackpool twice pegged the visitors back, even after Fotheringham’s side went back in front in the 86th minute.
So, it certainly felt like two points dropped for Huddersfield and the boss pulled no punches with his assessment when speaking to the club’s media.
“We’re devastated. A lot of angry words have been said, and rightly so. It was a disgrace of a performance in the second half. We all know that’s unacceptable and we’ve let the club down.
“We knew Blackpool would throw everything at it, and it was unacceptable to come away from this game with anything other than three points. We had unacceptable lapses in concentration defensively.”

The verdict
There’s no denying this was an awful result for Huddersfield given the circumstances and Fotheringham is right to be livid.
Of course, as the boss he has to take responsibility and fans will be asking questions of the manager considering this extended their winless run.
The only positive is that they didn’t lose to a relegation rival but the reality is this was a missed opportunity but it’s now about turning their attention to another big game at Wigan this weekend.
