Harry Toffolo could move across the East Midlands if the Reds successfully pursue one of Leicester's current crop
Leicester City are preparing a transfer move for free agent Harry Toffolo - but a deal hinges on whether Victor Kristiansen is to depart the King Power Stadium.
That is according to a fresh update from Alan Nixon via Patreon, as the Foxes prepare for life back in the Championship after an extremely underwhelming season of Premier League football last term.
It remains to be seen what side lines up in this part of the East Midlands for the season opener against Sheffield Wednesday, with Marti Cifuentes set to be named as Ruud van Nistelrooy's successor on a two-year contract, after the Spaniard agreed to take a pay cut to move to the one-time Premier League champions after previously being placed on gardening leave by Queens Park Rangers.
Amid financial uncertainty at the King Power, Cifuentes is expected to have to sell players before moving for targets of his own, which is exactly how a capture of Toffolo is reportedly set to pan out, with the aforementioned Kristiansen targeted by the left-back's former club ahead of their upcoming European venture.
Kristiansen joined the Foxes for £17m from FC Copenhagen in January 2023, and has since gone on to clock up 45 appearances for the club, with a loan spell at Serie A side, Bologna, during Enzo Maresca's solitary, title-winning season also sandwiched inbetween.
The 18-cap international returned from his loan and featured in 30 of 38 top-flight games last term, and has been the subject of interest from Premier League sides ever since Leicester's relegation was confirmed following a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on April 20th.
Just days later, it was reported that Everton were tracking the 22-year-old ahead of the Toffees' first campaign at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, whilst it has recently been claimed that City's East Midlands rivals, Forest, are the latest club to join the race for Kristiansen.
Meanwhile, Toffolo was released by the Reds after a monumental season at the City Ground, having made 57 appearances for the club after moving from Huddersfield Town in a joint £10m deal alongside Lewis O'Brien.
Football League World exclusively revealed in May that Coventry City and Norwich City had the 29-year-old on their respective transfer radars.
However, with the Sky Blues acquiring Miguel Angel Brau on a free transfer, Frank Lampard's side could be removed from the list of clubs eyeing up his services.
Despite not being the flashiest of potential targets, Toffolo's pedigree at Championship level, added to the fact he is available on a free transfer means this particular deal would be extremely smart for a club who haven't adopted the greatest of transfer policies in recent times.
The former Lincoln City man has racked up 99 appearances in the second tier, and shone in the Huddersfield side which narrowly missed out on promotion to the top flight under Carlos Corberan with six goals and seven assists, as well as being a key factor in the concession of just 47 goals.
