The hard work has continued throughout the week for Daniel Farke’s side on the pre-season camp is Germany.

The squad enjoyed a strong test in a friendly fixture with SC Verl on Tuesday, alongside gruelling sessions since arriving from Stockholm.

Chatting to LUTV, defender Joe Rodon believes the team will reap the rewards of the hard yards down the line.

“It has been a tough physical week,” the 27-year-old explained. “I think all the boys are feeling it, but we all know that is what pre-season is about.

“Everyone knows there is a lot of conditioning work. I think with all the players and the new faces coming in, I think it is important that we get that rhythm and kind of gel together as a group and, yeah, build momentum ready for the new season.

“Tuesday was a very physical, high-intensity match and, of course, the first one in Sweden as well was good to get that in the legs. I think it is all coming together nicely.

“I think all the new boys have settled in quickly. I think we have a great group here so that kind of helps and benefits them. I feel they have been great so far and I am sure they will get more comfortable and confident as the season continues.

“I think the more quality and depth in the squad is only going to lift the level. And of course, everyone competing for places so it is only going to benefit the team and hopefully be a successful campaign.

“Of course, there are going to be a lot of ups and downs but that is the same in any season. But it is important that we stick together and we learn from them and we continue and work in the right way.

“I think confidence is huge and especially with the support we get at our fortress, I think that is going to be massive again this season for us.

“It is just important that we keep building and working in pre-season now, ready to start off fast in the first upcoming games.”
