Beppe Bergomi feels that none of Inter Milan’s summer signings will instantly become regular starters, but that they’ve improved the squad depth.
The legendary former Nerazzurri captain gave his assessment of his old team’s summer business on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan have signed four players this summer. They’ve brought in midfielders Petar Sucic and Andy Diouf, wingback Luis Henrique, and striker Ange-Yoan Bonny.
Meanwhile, and just as significantly, Inter have also made Francesco Pio Esposito a part of their first team squad.
Notably, the oldest of these five additions is Henrique at just 23 years of age.
Meanwhile, Diouf is 22. Sucic and Bonny are both 21. And Pio Esposito only just turned twenty this summer.
Inter have therefore certainly lived up to the expectation that they would use this summer transfer window to try and lower the average age of their squad.

Former Inter captain and 1982 World Cup winner Beppe Bergomi said that he expects “consistency” from the Nerazzurri this season.
“Inter have signed five players 23 and under. But none of them will likely be starters right away.”
“However,” the former defender continued, “they’ve opted for young players.”
Bergomi commented that “there was a change of direction after the first friendlies.”
“Inter have a lot of technical players in midfield,” he added. “Diouf has come in, he’s more physical but not a defensive player, he’s a box-to-box midfielder.”
“Sucic has come in as a backup to Calhanoglu,” Bergomi went on.
In the past, Bergomi said that “Inter were often vulnerable to counterattacks.”
“But now they’ve reinforced the squad with backup players who are certainly more reliable than in the past.”
“Bonny has arrived,” the former defender noted. “And also Pio Esposito, who reminds me of Luca Toni, is back.”
“However, it will be difficult to move on from the 3-5-2 shape. They still have a lot of players who are best in a back three defense.”
“Maybe if they signed a fast defender, a change could be considered,” Bergomi said.
