Girona, this evening, departed Catalunya, to make the trip to Madrid for an imminent La Liga showdown with Getafe.

The Blanquivermells will head into proceedings with their tails up, fresh off getting back on track courtesy of a much-needed 2-0 downing of Osasuna last time out.

Míchel and co, in turn, will no doubt be desperate to keep the momentum alive this weekend, to ensure that they head into the upcoming international break having maintained the club’s spot in 2nd in the Spanish top-flight table.

As alluded to above, however, efforts towards as much will come sans the contributions of two important members of Girona’s ranks.

On Friday afternoon, the Catalans unveiled their travelling squad bound for the Estadio Coliseum.

And notable absentees came in the form of aforementioned pair López, and Tsygankov.

In an ensuing statement a short time ago, Girona, in turn, provided an explanation for as much.

As confirmed across the club’s website and social media platforms, defender López is struggling with a quad concern, whilst Tsygankov has picked up a knee injury:

‘David López is suffering from muscle discomfort in his quadriceps. Viktor Tsygankov has a grade 1 sprain of the medial collateral ligament of his right knee. Both players are out for tomorrow’s game.’
