It would be unwise for FC Barcelona to look at pastures foreign to them given the quality of their homegrown talents. While it is true that some positions need external help, others are provided for from within the club itself. Moreover, great quality can be found in the youngsters at Barcelona who aspire for greatness.

The likes of Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi have already proven this, and their futures seem secure enough. However, there is another young pearl who continues to make decisions more and more difficult for his coaches in terms of his playing time, and that young player is none other than Marc Guiu.

Constantly changing between the different age groups and teams of Barcelona and the club’s quarry, the young striker has proven himself to be equally capable in any given team. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, he proved this yet again in his latest appearance for Barcelona Atletic as well.

Appearing for Rafa Marquez’s side as a substitute in their latest outing against Ponferradina at El Toralin, Guiu made the most of his 30 minutes. With the score level at 1-1, he came on in place of another talented Barcelona youngster, Guille Fernandez. Shortly after coming on, he scored the crucial goal to make the score 2-1 in favor of La Blaugrana.

Moreover, he also ended up winning a penalty that Moha converted to take the score to 3-1 in favor of Barcelona. This efficiency in front of goal and the danger he creates are something not normal for a young 18-year-old striker. However, Guiu is more than just a physically imposing target man.

For Xavi’s first team, Marc Guiu has already scored two times across the 103 minutes he has played. That results in an average of one goal every 53 minutes, a figure that is astounding. However, that is not the only team within Barcelona where he has showcased his efficiency. For the reserve team, he has four goals across 337 minutes, resulting in a surreal average of one goal every 84 minutes.

His intention to remain at Barcelona remains as concrete as ever, and the club acknowledges this. He currently has an active contract until 2025, and he hopes to continue with Barça even beyond that. However, it must be kept in mind that due to his excellent progression, other rivals in La Liga are also keeping a close eye.
