Former Roma striker Borja Mayoral’s return to Real Madrid didn’t last long following his two-year loan spell in the Italian capital.

The Spanish attacker has officially departed his boyhood club in order to rejoin Getafe, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, on a permanent deal.

“Borja Mayoral arrived at our youth academy in 2007 and has since been a part of Real Madrid, winning 1 Champions League, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup and 1 Spanish Super Cup,” wrote Real Madrid wrote on their website.

“Our club would like to thank him for his hard work and dedication during his time at Real Madrid. Real Madrid wish him and his family the very best in this new chapter of his life.”

Mayoral joined Roma in 2020 on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy after each subsequent season. After a tremendous first season in which he was the team’s highest goalscorer, the attacker fell out of favour following the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
