A German source has told Football Insider that Bundesliga big hitters Schalke and Leipzig are keeping tabs on Campbell as they weigh up a move before his 17th birthday at the end of December.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that Campbell is a target for Dortmund as they look to land another uncut diamond from English football.

The German club signed Jadon Sancho two years ago and he has blazed a trail in the Bundesliga for exciting British talent with his remarkable progress.

Wolves may face a battle to hang on to Campbell as he can’t sign a professional contract until he turns 17 on 30 December.

That provides a window of opportunity for elite clubs on the Continent with the prestige and cash to lure the Wales Under-17 international.

Campbell has yet to break into the Wolves first team but he was invited to train with the first team in pre-season by Nuno and has recently broken into the club’s Under-23s side.

Campbell has also scored twice in five appearances for Wolves in the Under-18 Premier League and is earning rave reviews in youth team football.

Like Dortmund, Leipzig and Schalke have had success importing top youngsters from England in the last few years.

Leipzig signed Ademola Lookman permanently during the summer after a successful loan, while Everton right-back Jonjo Kenny is a regular starter in David Wagner’s Schalke side.
